Tampa says Green Spine cycle track is complete
Tampa says the city’s portion of the Green Spine Cycle Track is finished after more than a decade of work. The route runs 3.5 miles from North Hyde Park through downtown, Ybor City and East Tampa, with one small FDOT segment near N. 15th Street still slated for later completion.

What Tampa says is finished
Tampa says the Green Spine Cycle Track is now complete after more than a decade of work. The route is a 3.5-mile protected, two-way bike path with three-foot raised concrete dividers, running east-west from North Hyde Park through downtown, Ybor City and East Tampa to E. 21st Street. The city says the project is meant to create safer bike connections and better connectivity across Tampa.
The city also says the route connects with the West Riverwalk Extension at two locations and has already drawn heavy use, with nearly 80,000 cyclists counted in 2025 and nearly 60,000 so far in 2026.
What remains unresolved
The final city segment, known as Phase 2A, runs along W. Cass Street between N. Howard and N. Rome avenues and spans more than a third of a mile. City documents say that stretch began construction last October and wrapped up in September, and the update was posted Oct. 23.
The city says a small segment near N. 15th Street is still due to be completed later by an FDOT contractor, likely in the spring after interstate work. For now, the city says nearly 80% of the roughly $8 million cost came from grants, with the remaining $1.6 million from city funds.
