A section of Gunn Highway in northwest Hillsborough County closes today between Lutz Lake Fern Road and Tarpon Springs Road for a stormwater culvert replacement. The county says the work can last up to four weeks, and drivers in the corridor near the Pasco County line should follow posted detours.
Hillsborough County says the project will replace an aging box culvert with two elliptical reinforced concrete pipes to improve drainage capacity and durability. The county also says driveway and local property access will stay available during the closure.
The county lists the project’s current cost estimate at $1,318,000, including about $23,600 to speed the work and shorten the closure. For route planning, the county says navigation apps have already been updated on the detour.
