Tampa residents who want to keep a broken lamp, fan or small appliance out of the trash can try the city’s first Tampa Tinker Community Repair Workshop today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at City Center at Hanna Avenue, 2555 East Hanna Avenue. The free event requires advance registration, and each resident may bring one item.
Who can go
To participate, you must be a City of Tampa resident and show photo ID at check-in. The city says staff will troubleshoot and attempt repairs, but the work is not guaranteed, and registered items can still be declined if they are unsafe or not suitable for repair.
What you can bring
Accepted items include lamps, fans, furniture that can be carried inside, kitchen gadgets, hand tools, clocks, vacuums, toasters, small appliances, toys and bikes with flat tires or brake and gear adjustments. The city says the idea is to help residents extend the life of items they already own while reducing waste.
How to take part
Residents can register and check the accepted-item list at tampa.gov/repair. If a repair does not work out, city staff say they will try to diagnose the problem and point people to other repair or disposal options.
