Downtown Tampa traffic warning covers major events and Brorein lane changes
The City of Tampa says downtown will be especially busy Thursday through Sunday, with major events and a new Brorein Street traffic pattern affecting drivers near the convention center.

Downtown Tampa drivers should expect heavier traffic and more pedestrians Thursday through Sunday as the city’s latest advisory covers Oct. 22-25 and says crowds could reach into the tens of thousands. [f1,f2]
Thursday’s biggest pinch points include Hyrox at the Tampa Convention Center, Straz performances and the Joyce Meyer Ministries Women’s Conference at Benchmark International Arena. [f3]
The warning comes on top of a lane change that started Oct. 20 for THEA’s South Selmon Capacity Project. South Tampa Street is closed at East Brorein for about two years, while the leftmost lane of East Brorein now works as two-way traffic so drivers can still reach South Franklin Street. The city also points travelers to transit and bike options, and says the convention center parking garage and upper loading docks remain open. [f4,f5,f6,f7]
